Professor Larry Green

In February, PHAA-QLD sponsored a keynote address by Professor Larry Green at the Australasian Society for Behavioural Health and Medicine Conference in Brisbane.  Professor Green, Co-Leader of the Program on Society, Diversity and Disparities at the University of California, San Fransisco spoke on, "If we want more evidence-based practice, we need more practice-based evidence".

At the conclusion of the conference, PHAA members were invited to meet Professor Green and his wife, Associate Professor Judith Ottoson.  We were delighted to be able to facilitate teh opportunity to meet Larry and Judith who are not only leaders in their fields but also friendly and engaging people.  Some members travelled from Cairns to meet Larry!

Valentine's Day Breakfast

In February, PHAA-QLD sponsored a table at a breakfast seminar held by Emily's List to allow members to hear Dr Caroline de Costa, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Director of the Clinical School at James Cook University of School of Medicine, speak on the challenges facing women in Queensland who wish to procure an abortion.  The challenges and barriers to changing laws in Queensland were also dicussed.
